NECCO Hoarders Stocking Up

Last night, my beautiful.wife brought home.a.couple rolls of the chalky, flavored candy discs, known as NECCO Wafers.

A product of the New England Confectionery Company, the candy has been produced since 1847. The eight flavors have been a candy staple for generations.

News this morning brought shock to us both when we read the company may be closing! Fans have been clearing shelves and hoarding them, just in case.

Fans of Clark Bars, Mary Jane's, Squirrel Nut Zippers (not the band) and Sweethearts, may be affected as well. Unless someone comes forth to rescue the company, three hundred employees may be out of work and the dusty confectionery legend, will be gone.
