In the midst of a 13 game winning streak, Michigan State men's basketball finds themselves at number one in the AP poll to start the new year.

Michigan State is currently riding four straight 100+ point performances and have won every game this season by 10+ points. Their only game with a final score within single digits was their loss to Duke in the Champions Classic.

The poll, released on New Year's Day, had MSU receiving 43 of 65 first place votes, Duke got 21 and the previous #1 Villanova got one first place vote.

After those three, Arizona State and Xavier round out the top five in the AP Poll to begin 2018.

The only other Big Ten team ranked in this poll is Purdue, who come in at 13th. No Big Ten teams are in the "others receiving votes" category.
