Alabama won the 2017-18 college football national championship yesterday, and that means the "way-too-early" rankings for the 2018-19 season could come out in full force today.

Michigan State ranked really well on most of them, ESPN had them in the top 10, and who could argue that? A 10-3 season, with a strong bowl win over Washington State and close to 20 starters returning next season. Things are looking up in East Lansing.

So when Sports Illustrated left MSU out of the top 25 completely ahead of the 2018 season, Spartan Nation and Big Ten aficionados called foul.

It was unbelievable, the disrespect tracks were cued up and the chip on the shoulder was growing, but then Sports Illustrated quickly took notice and the author went to twitter to correct the omission.

Michigan State was placed 12th in the corrected version of SI's rankings.

Final verdict: no disrespect, just a human error, carry on with your day.
