An article on wilx.com says Ingham County Road Commission officials are working on plans to make major improvements to one of Mid-Michigan's busiest traffic corridors. The proposed improvements would include additional turning lanes at the Okemos/Jolly intersection, additional lanes on Okemos south of I-96 in front of Jackson National Life, a traffic signal at Sandhill and Okemos Roads, as well as turning lanes on Okemos at the intersection. Anyone who travels this area daily knows all too well of the heavy traffic volumes that have slowed travelers and commuters for decades, despite major improvements to the Okemos/I-96 interchange. The article states that this is not a done deal, as ICRC must get approval from business owners who would lose some acreage to the road widening, and, of course, approval from local governments in Meridian and Alaiedon Townships.
