Given that it took 20 years to get here and arose partly out of leftover performances recorded during the sessions for 1994's 'Division Bell' LP, it seems safe to assume that most Pink Floyd fans aren't expecting another album out of the long-dormant group after 'The Endless River' arrives Nov. 10. Whatever doubts remained, however, were recently put to rest by guitarist David Gilmour.

Discussing the new album with BBC 6 Music, Gilmour closed the door on any new Pink Floyd records, saying, "This is the last thing that'll be out from us ... I’m pretty certain that there will not be a follow-up to this." Addressing the album's vocal track, 'Louder Than Words,' he noted, "Polly, my wife, thought that would be a very good lyrical idea to go out on. A way of describing the symbiosis that we have. Or had."

Gilmour's reasons for seeing an end to the band are simple: Keyboard player Rick Wright died in 2008, leaving Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason as the last Pinks standing. He described 'Endless River' as a tribute to Wright's keyboard skills, admitting, "I didn’t necessarily always give him his proper due. People have very different attitudes to the way they work and we can become very judgmental and think someone is not quite pulling his weight enough, without realizing that theirs is a different weight to pull."

Assuring his interviewer that there aren't any lost tracks waiting to be sprung from the vaults, Gilmour did hint that this may not be the last time we hear from Wright. "I have a little bit of Rick playing from my solo stuff that will hopefully appear on my next solo album," he allowed. "But not a Pink Floyd album."
