May 18, 2014, will mark the 40th anniversary of the very first appearance by the Canadian trio known as "Rush."

Despite claims by other locations, Lansing, Michigan and the former Northside Drive-In have the distinct honor of hosting the event that almost was Michigan's answer to Woodstock.

The event was to be a mammoth, thousands were to converge on the sleepy grounds of the DeWitt Township movie theater. Instead, a fraction of those actually showed. The weather was less than cooperative and the reports from the local news papers, made it sound like it was a "shooting gallery" for drug addicts.

40 years later, as we embark on this momentous occasion in rock history, I receive a phone call from my long time friend Wayne Rood. The call produces an email with a very iconic piece of memorabilia. An actual poster from the event! It was almost the victim of his dear mother cleaning house. We all now how this works, mom cleans the house, throws away all of your old concert stubs or makes rags out of your best Deep Purple shirt! Fortunately, the poster, along with other items from the event were spared. And now, Wayne and I are planning how we will celebrate the event.

Keep watching, it's bound to be epic!
