The Detroit Free Press reports today that Michigan voters will not decide the recreational legalization of marijuana this November. The Michigan Court of Claims ruled that the State Board of Canvassers are well within rights to keep the issue off of the ballot after the MI Legalize campaign failed to properly submit the necessary signatures to have the issue put to Michigan voters. MI Legalize submitted 354,000 signatures to the State Board of Canvassers. There was a requirement of 252,000 signatures. But, the board ruled, and the court agreed, that 200,000 of the signatures were collected outside of a legal window.

I can't wrap my head around the legaleze. Maybe you will have more luck than me...check out the full Free Press report here.
