Since it's not a hugely negative thing that forced Haslett Schools to dismiss early today, we can joke and say that Consumers Energy delivered students a free afternoon...too bad it wasn't a day later for an extended weekend.

LSJ.com is reporting that the district's schools all dismissed classes around 10:30 Thursday morning. A power outage is reportedly to blame. Though all of the schools didn't lose full power, the two kitchens in the district were both affected, making lunchtime for students a hurdle that couldn't be overcome.

In all, LSJ reports just over 200 customers are affected by the outage. Crews are working to repair the underground line malfunction and hope to have things back to normal around 7:00pm Thursday evening.
