President Barack Obama has commuted the sentence of a Lansing Woman serving prison time for drug charges. According to WLNS.com, President Obama shortened the sentence of Cynthia Shank who was convicted of multiple drug charges in 2008.

Shank was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison, 5 years probation, and $10,000 in fines for charges related to conspiracy, possession, and distribution of cocaine, crack, and marijuana. Shank's attorney contends that her guilt is by forced association of a drug ring much bigger than Shank.

Shank will now be released in March of 2017.
