The reported death of the legendary artist Prince is another ripple of sadness that has shaken the Rock 'n' Roll world. In a very short, less than an hour, time span, I have heard from multiple die hard rock fans mocking the tragedy of another pop star. But, don't blame Prince that his age and timing of worldwide stardom happened in an era that was dominated by video and pop legends like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Madonna, and George Michael.

Prince had something the rest of them didn't...a god-given, ultimate talent to play an electric guitar as good, if not better, than many of the most popular rock musicians. Even the likes of Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, and Mike Campbell have raved about his ax-wielding. And, it wasn't by happenstance that he was hand picked by Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Steve Winwood to honor another late guitar great, and dear friend George Harrison at Harrison's tribute at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. (Harrison's son Dhani also was involved in that decision.)

You don't believe me that Prince's death is a big blow to, not just the pop world? That it is a blow to Rock 'n' Roll, and entertainment, in general, worldwide? Just watch Twitter and Facebook over the next 24 hours, watch, and see who pays their homage. And, take a look at this video of the Harrison tribute...BEST LIVE SOLO EVER!!!

R.I.P. Prince Rogers Nelson
