The City of Lansing is inviting Lansing residents to get involved in the annual Independence Day Parade, one week from tomorrow, giving you an opportunity to show your creativity, your patriotism and represent your neighborhood.

All you need to do is show up downtown, maybe dressed in red, white and blue, maybe you want to make a sign - however you'd like to show your colors. Of course, you should try to outdo all the other neighborhoods.

Not sure if you can haul a float or if you'll need to walk it - you'll have to check with the City to get the particulars; here's a link to the City's website, which has the parade route for the 4th.

All neighbors are welcome and lineup begins at 10:00 AM, in the parking lot behind the Michigan Hall of Justice off of Allegan Street; the parade starts rolling at 11:00 AM and should go through 1:00 PM.

No need to rush back home afterwards, either, as there will be plenty to do all day in Downtown Lansing - and the Lansing Concert Band will perform Wednesday evening, July 4th, from 8-10:00 PM at Louis Adado Riverfront Park - fireworks will follow!
