(The Six O'Clock Triple Shot is a daily feature of three songs that share a common theme, heard weeknights on 94.9 WMMQ)

As Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever LP was garnering a huge amount of success, Free Fallin' was peaking at #7 on the singles chart, Petty's hometown of Gainesville commemorated their native son with his own day...January 27, 1990 was donned "Tom Petty Day". Petty and The Heartbreakers would eventually receive the same honor three more times, on three different days.

Tom and company continue to stay busy. We're anxiously awaiting the follow-up LP to 2011's Mojo. Heartbreaker Benmont Tench is working on a solo project featuring Petty and Ringo Starr. And, Mike Campbell spent the holiday season preparing for and performing at a benefit concert in Los Angeles.

Tonight we celebrate "Tom Petty Day" with a chronological journey. The early days represented by "Even The Losers" from 1979's Damn The Torpedos; "It's Good To Be King" from 1994's Wildflowers covers the middle years, and "I Should Have Known It" from the most recent Mojo release brings us home. The Six O'Clock Triple Shot...only on Classic Rock 94.9 WMMQ!!
