(The Six O'Clock Triple Shot is a daily feature of three songs that share a common theme, heard weeknights on 94.9 WMMQ)

The Recording Industry Association of America certified the first ever Platinum Album 38 years ago today, February 24, 1976. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 was the first LP to receive this distinction. A Platinum Album signifies album sales in excess of 1 Million units. You may be thinking that there had to be albums selling more than 1 Million prior to 1976. And you would be correct. The putrid world of disco is credited for the creation of Platinum status by RIAA, as an abundance of Gold records were being issued in the mid-'70s, commemorating 500,000 units sold. It just so happened that The Eagles were the first to have this Platinum label attached to their resume.

Tonight, I'm rolling out three from this compilation, and all three lead singers with a track on it will be represented. Glenn Frey and "Tequila Sunrise", Randy Meisner and "Take It To The Limit", and Don Henley with "Witchy Woman". It's the Six O'Clock Triple Shot only on 94.9 WMMQ!
