(The Six O'Clock Triple Shot is a daily feature of three songs that share a common theme, heard weeknights on 94.9 WMMQ)

It's hard to believe it's already been 8 years since Detroit hosted Super Bowl XL at Ford Field. The Pittsburgh Steelers joined the San Francisco 49'ers and Dallas Cowboys in the five-time club by, ironically, beating this year's champ, The Seattle Seahawks, 21-10. Native Detroiter Jerome Bettis won his first ring, but didn't score a touchdown. Hines Ward was the MVP. Stevie Wonder and The Four Tops began the Motown Pre-Game festivities before Aretha Franklin slaughtered "The Star-Spangled Banner", dragging Aaron Neville along with her. (Remember, this was less than a year after Aretha was accused of lip-synching The Anthem during The Detroit Pistons NBA Playoff run.)

But, at halftime, the NFL continued their image change, just two years after Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" with Justin Timberlake. How would they follow up Paul McCartney's SBXXXIX performance? Well, The Rolling Stones, naturally!! In the REAL Home of Rock & Roll, Detroit City!!! And, as usual, The Stones were censored on National TV...(see if you can pick out the two "dumps" in the video link). I suppose, understandably so, this time...I mean, two years separated from Janet's boobies...I get it. Play it safe.

Tonight, we look back at a big day in Detroit rock history. "We get down, as The Stones come to town!!!" Or, remember when they did, in this case...I'm kickin' out "Tumbling Dice", "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'", and "Bitch" tonight for your Six O'Clock Triple Shot, only on 94.9 WMMQ!!
