Sound City Documentary: Classic Rock Timepiece

This is my favorite music documentary. Some of the greatest records ever were recorded at the Sound City Studios when it was in operation from 1969-2011. Dave Grohl is a true student of music and takes you through music history. Click here to check it out.

One of my favorite parts is when Tom Petty meets Carl Perkins and has to go to the lobby to clear his thoughts. Petty said to the receptionist. "That is Carl FU****G Perkins in there!"  A star meeting one of his idols was a magic moment. It's really amazing to see all the influential records that were recorded there.

Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty are all featured. Damn the Torpedos from the Heartbreakers was recorded there. Rumors from Fleetwood Mac was recorded there. In fact, the introduction of Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood happened in the Sound City Studios. If you call yourself a student of music, this is a must see.
