Sports Illustrated Completely Bungles Denzel Valentine’s Name, Alma Mater in NBA Draft Projections

Here we go again.

Sports Illustrated has had trouble with the names of Michigan State sports figures of late. It happened again on Wednesday, when the longstanding sports publication flubbed up on Denzel Valentine's name and college.

To be fair, it's easy to accidentally conflate Denzel with his thespian namesake. Many a sportscaster has been tripped up by this, what seems to be a natural instinct to associate the name Denzel with the two-time Academy Award winner.

But confusing Valentine's alma mater, Michigan State, for Michigan, its antithesis and arch-rival? That's the real faux pas here.

(And in further defense, the error was corrected relatively quickly.)

It's not as bad as the time SI got Mark Dantonio's name wrong on their cover, but still.
