WLNS.com reports that bipartisan bills in the Michigan Legislature would absolve over 300,000 Michiganders from the responsibility of paying the remainder of their Driver Responsibility Fees as the state phases out all responsibility fees by the end of 2019.

The bills would forgive nearly $600 million in fees, while speeding up the phase-out period to October 2018. Some residents would also be able to perform community service in lieu of paying their fees.
