Recently, a discussion broke out in my house over the proper pronunciation of the word "sherbet." I say it is pronounced as it is spelled "Sherbet" (sher-BET). My sweetie insists on adding an imaginary "R" and pronounces it "sherbert" (sher-BERT).

The question is, how do you say it. Is adding an 'R' a Michigan thing?

We will not throw into the debate the word 'sorbet' (sor-BAY)! Frankly, unless I see it spelled s-o-r-b-e-t, it doesn't apply here.

Many thanks to Debra Hart for providing me with this little link that gives the proper pronunciation. (Click here to hear Duran be proved right!)

So, let the battle begin!
