Tiny East Lansing Race for a Great Cause

The handsome lad in the middle of the photo here is Will Roberts of Lansing. He's flanked by his parents Ryan and Keyan, who are inviting us all to join them for the inaugural HopCat 0.1K Micro Marathon in East Lansing Saturday, April 15, 2017. The 'race' is approximately 132 steps from start to finish - and HopCat will be waiting for you with open arms and cold beer. Goofy outfits are encouraged.

The 100 yard-ish run/walk/skip/hop (less than a football field's distance) was created to support families whose loved ones are facing Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, like Will Roberts, the sweet face you see in the middle of the pic above.

HopCat will donate $1 from every beer sold between 11A-5P on race day to Parent Project MD, which is a non-profit organization focused on finding a cure for Duchenne.

Registration and more about the HopCat 0.1K Micro Marathon is available at HopCatpoint1k.com. Registration is $25 for adults and $20 for students or children under 21. Registration includes a bandana, T-shirt and sticker. Registration is also available at HopCat from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday April 14 and 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15.

“Our race may be 50 times shorter than a 5k, and more humorously, over 421 times shorter than a marathon” Roberts said.
