WLNS.com reports that two Mid-Michigan elementary schools were among those recognized by the Michigan Department of Education as 2016 National Blue Ribbon Schools. The Okemos Public Montessori at Central, where my father taught many moons ago, and Ralya Elementary in Haslett, where I attended for my fourth and fifth grade years, are recognized for exemplary marks in state assessments, attendance, and high school graduation rates.

The schools are among a list of 13 statewide to be honored.
