WILX.com reports that Nutrisca is voluntarily recalling some varieties of its dry dog food after dog owners have reported Vitamin D toxicity in their pets.

The recall affects Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food. After receiving complaints, Nutrisca investigated a potential cause for dogs getting sick after eating the food. The investigation showed the increased levels of Vitamin D.

Vitamin D toxicity can cause serious health issues to dogs. Symptoms include increased vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss, excessive drooling as well as increased thirst and urination.
