Congratulations to Williamston High School senior Jared Fleming, this week’s WMMQ/Meijer High School Athlete of the Week. Jared is a team captain for the Hornets undefeated football team, and participates in wrestling during the winter season. At roughly 140 pounds, Jared is one of Williamston’s leading tacklers as a defensive lineman, and also plays wide receiver on offense. This week, he’ll help to spearhead another stout defensive performance against Lansing Catholic in the CAAC White title game. Both teams come in undefeated, and ranked in the state AP poll (Williamston number 4, Division 4; Lansing Catholic number 5, Division 5).

Head Football Coach Steve Kersten points to Jared’s character as a reason why he’s successful on the field and off the field. Jared is a member of the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, Math and Science Academy, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Fleming has had several smaller colleges show interest in his wrestling abilities at the next level.

Congrats to Jared Fleming for his on field and off field success. If you’d like to nominate a High School Athlete of the Week, follow this link.
