Better Made Snack Foods
Better Made Potato Chips were created in 1930 when Cross Moceri and Peter Cipriano purchased a potato chip factory in Detroit, Michigan. The company was originally called Cross & Peters Company and launched its first and only brand of potato chips, Better Made, in 1934. The company has been based in Detroit since its inception and continues to use Michigan potatoes for its products
Carhartt
Carhartt was created in Detroit, Michigan in 1889 by Hamilton Carhartt. The company started with two sewing machines and five workers, and its initial expansion in the 1890s focused on railroad workers' need for strong and long-lasting work clothes. Today, Carhartt remains a family-owned company with its headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.

Kellogg's
Kellogg's was created in Battle Creek, Michigan. The company was founded as the Sanitas Food Company in 1900 by brothers W.K. Kellogg and Dr. John H. Kellogg, who had developed a method of producing crunchy, flavourful flakes of processed grain that proved popular among the patients at Dr. Kellogg’s Battle Creek Sanitarium. W.K. Kellogg eventually bought out his brother and in 1906 established the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company, which later became Kellogg's.

Meijer was created in Greenville, Michigan in 1934 by Hendrik Meijer, a Dutch immigrant who was a local barber and entered the grocery business during the Great Depression. The company's headquarters are currently located in Walker, Michigan.

Vernors was created by James Vernor, a Detroit pharmacist, in Michigan between 1866 and 1880. Vernor initially sold his ginger soda at his drugstore in Detroit and later opened a soda fountain closer to the city center to concentrate on the ginger ale business alone.
