We've all made them and we've all broken them.

When it comes to a brand new year, many people set out trying to better themselves. Whether it is going to the gym more, eating better, or trying to make more money, we've all tried to commit to something. Unfortunately, many New Year's Resolutions are broken very quickly.

Personally, I stopped making New Year's Resolutions years ago. Most of the time they would only last a few days. One year I set a record and actually when to the gym for a month and a half. So after years of failing, I just decided to step away from the stigma of starting fresh each year.

No matter who you are friends with, the conversation will come up in January whether you made a resolution or not. So that is the reason I started working on excuses early each year. I have come to find out that coming up with crazy and dumb excuses is fun. Not only it that part of it fun, it is extremely fun to try and get people to believe the excuse no matter how ludicrous it is. The trick is to say it with a straight face and meaningfully. Below you'll find a list of 16 excuses that you can try this tactic with. If you life in the south, some of them won't work unless you are really good at it. The rest will give all Michiganders that don't like New Year's Resolutions a way to mess with their friends. Enjoy!
