A Former Detroit Lion Just Retired From Football In The Most Epic Way
A former Detroit Lions player decided to end his NFL career by going out on top, literally. Haloti Ngata, who spent 13 years in the league as a defensive tackle announced his retirement on Monday. But it's where he made the announcement that is going viral.
Ngata shared an Instagram post of himself standing at the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa holding a banner saying "I'm retiring from the NFL on top".
The banner, which was unfurled at a height of 19,341 feet above sea level, includes the logos of the three teams he played for during his career, including the Lions.
Ngata was signed to Detroit in 2015 to help fill the void when Ndamukong Suh left the team in free agency. He spent three seasons in Detroit. but missed most of his third season after in injury in Week 5. He played his final season in 2018 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
