Abandoned 100-Year-Old Church, Flint

To me, it seems so sad to see a beautiful church sitting empty, with no congregation left to help maintain the property.
This particular church in Flint is said to be over 100 years old. It’s the Methodist Episcopal Church built in 1915. It was a beautiful church that once boasted a parish of 600 people. Over the years, it was closed and reopened as a nondenominational church and ended up closing for good in 2015…..100 years after it began.
Being abandoned for the past years, one would expect to see major vandalism and graffiti all throughout the place. Sure, there is some littering, broken windows, trash, stains, things falling apart and crumbling…but the incredible part is the congregation area, pulpit, altar, and pews. The massive room is still impressive, looking as if services still exist every Sunday.
The basement and some of the other rooms are in somewhat disarray with some debris, but still not as bad as some of the other abandoned places we’ve seen. Beautiful stained-glass windows still exist and many of the rooms look as if they were recently vacated, with a smattering of things remaining. It’s kind of nice to see an abandoned place that still retains some of its original glory…and the room where services were held is amazingly looking great.
Remember to always get permission to explore like these guys did...
