According to Ruin Road, the first juvenile home in Detroit opened in the early 1900s. However, this first home wasn't large enough to house all the new kids coming in, thanks to Detroit's rapid growth, and population boom.

Kids who were brought here were between the ages of eight and twenty. The facility featured medical care, a gym for sports and exercise, and schooling.
