As we continue returning to normal this year for Kalamazoo’s summertime activities, here’s some events that are happening this weekend. This year the Bronson Park KIA Arts Fair will be a virtual presentation, and the live performances at Bell’s Beer garden aren’t happening, but several good things are.

MLive reports

“The past two years have been tough all-around, but we are excited to safely move forward with Art on the Mall this summer,” Arts Council Program Director Bianca Washington-Ciungan said recently. The two-day event will also feature a slew of musicians, including Carrie McFerrin, DJ Boogie, Yolonda Lavender, the Celeste Allison Trio and more, performing over the course of the two days. The Do-Dah-Parade with a twist is back, this year a motionless parade where the parade is stationary and the audience walks by. Kalamazoo always likes to put fun twists on their events. The theme this year is “Follow The Yellow Brick Road”. They have created a socially distanced way for viewers to walk or bike by the stationary parade. The route is Jasper Street to Rose Street along Lovell, starting at 11am.

Art on the Mall which features 35 local and regional artists is happening Friday Noon to 8pm, and Saturday 9am to 5pm. On Friday night from 6-8pm it will be Art Hop on the mall.

The Kalamazoo State Theatre will also feature a musical performance from LaSoulfulRock Friday starting at 5pm. And the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra will perform at Bronson Park and a Latin Rock group Cabildo will perform on Sunday.
