According to multiple reports, including this one from The Detroit Free Press, the Micigan Film Office has announced that a new sequel to Beverly HIlls Cop will be shot in Metro Detroit. Eddie Murphy is back as the lead role of Axel Foley, a Detroit native now living the high life in Beverly Hills. In the new movie, Axel makes his way back to Motown, just in time for the worst winter on record, when he encounters some old foes. The film is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (producer of the original Beverly Hills Cop), and directed by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) for Paramount Pictures. The film is slated for a 2016 release. But, there is no word as to when filming will take place in Metro Detroit. There are also no details available regarding the supporting cast. So, no word on who may be the next to fall victim to the banana in the tailpipe...
