Apples are a popular item in the fall. Fall is harvest season for apples, this makes sense.

Heading out to the cider mill to grab some fresh cider and donuts is a tradition for many families including my own. A lot of the cider mills are adjacent to orchards and that gives you and the fam a chance to go out and pick your own apples.

I remember "bobbing for apples" when I was a kid. Dunking your head into a vessel of water to claim an apple with your teeth was always fun and it tested your stamina when it comes to holding your breath. Although we did this when I was growing up at our Halloween parties at school, I don't think it's much of a tradition nowadays.

One thing you can count on purchasing during the fall and Halloween season are caramel apples. Why are caramel apples associated with Halloween? According to ambrosiaapples.ca:

Many historians attribute the creation of Halloween to the Celtic tradition of putting out fruit and nuts for the gods at the change of seasons that happened around the end of October.

Ok, that makes sense. As time moves on, so do the different ways you can get caramel apples. A simple caramel covered apple, with or without nuts, is what I grew up eating. Nowadays the caramel apples come many different ways. Maybe you want it dipped in caramel, rolled in nuts and drizzled with chocolate? Perhaps getting a caramel apple that has been dipped in caramel, dipped in chocolate and rolled in M&M's is your thing. Regardless, caramel apples have gotten fancy and I am sure there is a covered apple that fits your taste. Check out these great Michigan locations to get in on some awesome apple experiences.

Mike Finton is simple:

Can’t say enough about the quality and variety of apples they offer. My wife’s favorite is still the simple caramel apple. I could eat the caramel by itself, but paired with the Granny Smith is outstanding. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful. Willing to whip together an apple if she is out. Always get a couple when I’m at the market.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate - 4350 Baldwin Rd, Auburn Hills, MI 48326

Mezion shared his experience:

My wife & I stopped in to get some dessert for us & our children (we celebrated our 22nd anniversary). We decided to get some of the beautifully crafted apples. We brought them home for the fam, and all five of us enjoyed them, and sweetie that we'd be returning customers! If you're shopping at the mall (or in the area), stop in and get one of these gourmet apples for dessert for yourself. It'll be a great surprise for your family as well.
