WILX.com reports that a new phone scam is targeting utility customers of the Lansing Board of Water and Light.

Scammers are calling customers and demanding immediate payment over the phone for due bills. The utility says its employees do not demand any payments at any time over the phone. Customers may call on their own to make payments voluntarily by phone, but, BWL workers will not call customers in  an effort to collect.

If you receive a call similar to this, it should be reported to the Lansing Police Department. For more details, visit this link to WILX.com.
