Love Your Bread Pudding Locally This Holiday Season

With the arrival of Thanksgiving and Christmas comes the conversation of bread pudding. All I knew about bread pudding until a few years ago was that it sounded disgusting.

Bread pudding, as it turns out, is pretty damn tasty. I tried it a couple of years ago at a place in Williamston called The Bistro. Currently, The Bistro is going thru a rebranding and will open again soon. The bread pudding was amazing, it was loaded with chocolate chips and other sweet goodness, I'm a big fan.

The origins about bread pudding around the holidays are interesting. Bread pudding dates back to the 11th century, according to juleeho.com:

The origins of bread pudding go as far back as the early 11th century when creative, penny-wise cooks sought to find a use for their leftover, stale bread. Fast forward two centuries and bread pudding was popularized amongst lower classes and consequently became known in England as the “poor man's pudding”.

What is bread pudding? Simplyrecipes.com says:

Bread pudding is simply cubed stale bread that is combined with a mixture of milk, sugar, and eggs that is baked. The result is something like the creamy middles from a stack of French toast.
