Back in November a video hit the internet (sorry I missed it back then, I was deer-hunting) showing a man catching catfish out of a hole in the ground using eggs and toothpaste. Is it real or a hoax? As with a majority of things I see on the internet, my first question is - why?

The video shows a Cambodian man putting eggs into a small hole in the ground and then squeezing toothpaste into the hole. Within seconds, a BUNCH of catfish come to surface where the man catches them with his bare hands and puts them in a bucket. There are other versions of this online - some with Coke and Mentos being poured down the hole. Real or hoax? Seems kinda "hoaxy" to me.

I dunno. Michigan State University? Fish experts at the Michigan DNR?
