Cedar Point Going Back To Normal Hours Of Operation
Everybody’s favorite Ohio amusement park had to cut back and close two days a week, and shorten their hours due to a shortage in help. Now they are offering a $20 per hour wage and will be fully staffed by the end of June.
What that means for you is they will return to their normal days of operation.
Currently the park is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday until June 23, and they will also go back to regular hours instead of closing at 8pm everyday as they have been.
Cleveland.com reports
“The move angered many travelers, who had to cancel or adjust their plans to accommodate the new schedule. The park is typically open for daily operations starting in mid-May.” Cedar Fair CEO Richard Zimmerman said the company this year faced the most severe labor crisis in decades. “This is the most challenging labor market I’ve seen in 20 years,” he said. “This is not a typical economic slowdown. This is a pandemic-caused shutdown and now reopening of the economy. That makes it uniquely different.”
Cedar Point is the company’s flagship location, and because of the park's location so far from major metro areas, they suffered more than their other operations. Not only are they having problems finding local workers, they also use international workers on a regular basis, and this year they have not been there.
Normally about 1,600 college aged workers come from overseas to work at Cedar Point. The pandemic has caused havoc with many of their normal activities. Hopefully by next year things will be back to normal from the git go.
