Clark Lake Polar Plunge Sets Records For Special Olympics

On Saturday, January 25th immune-to-cold, water lovers gathered at The Pointe Bar and Grill at Clark Lake for the Law Enforcement Polar Plunge.

We Michiganders are no strangers to a good polar plunge but this one was something special, according to MLive, the Law Enforcement Polar Plunge was to raise money for Special Olympics Michigan.

John Gates of the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office said the 240 jumpers raising over $40,000 are record highs for both the number of plungers and amount of money raised.

With the help from about 50 volunteers, it was an extremely successful day benefitting Special Olympics Michigan.

"This is by far the best turnout we've had since we've been doing it," Gates said, later adding, "We don't want our athletes to pay for anything for any event they attend in Michigan."

While this was not and probably won't be the only polar plunge this winter, the cause and their success is enough to give the Law Enforcement Polar Plunge a big round of applause.
