Consumers Energy Says Emergency Appeal Will End At Midnight
The Detroit News reports that officials at Consumers Energy have announced that normal natural gas usage can resume statewide at midnight.
A fire at a Consumers Energy compression station Wednesday, on top of record cold temperatures, put the natural gas supply in jeopardy. Consumers Energy made a public plea to residents to turn their thermostats down to 65 degrees to conserve the gas supply. The utility even urged General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Fiat Chrysler, and other large industrial and manufacturing customers to cease operations, which many did.
