Useful Dark Parks In Michigan Are Awesome For Star Lovers

The nighttime sky in Michigan is a beautiful sight. The Northern Lights are often visible to Michigan residents and stargazing is a popular hobby. Light polution can be an issue for some when trying to view the stars. Michigan has dark parks located throughout the state giving those that like to look at stars a great experience with very little light polution.

I've always liked looking at the stars. When I was growing up we had a planetarium at my junior high school. We learned a lot about "space". My wife is a huge fan of looking at the night sky and I bought her a telescope for Christmas last year. We've tried using it a few times in the mid Michigan area but the light polution is an issue.

The only way for us to use the telescope to its max potential is to get out of town to the most rural, darkest spot possible. That's why these amazing dark parks are in existence, to give astronomy lovers a good sky to look at. Michigan has designated dark sky parks and these are the places you want to visit. My plan is to plan a fun trip with her to enjoy one of her favorite hobbies with her.

Isle Royale National Park – Houghton

Make the trip to the U.P. for some great stargazing.

Whitefish Point – Paradise

Paradise is a quiet town and the stars will be lit.
