My niece Katie, took this seven point on a restricted tag yesterday in Midland. Her 'blind' was actually my nephew Aiden's tree house on my sister and brother-in-law's property. This was her biggest harvest to date; she's gotten about ten deer total in her years of mostly bow hunting, some rifle hunting.

She told me that her first time in the field was for a youth hunt when she was 14 years old. Her dad, my brother, said that she moved around too much then, so she waited to go back out until she was 18. Curiously, my dad took me fishing once when I was 6 years old and he said that I talked too much, 'scared the fish away'. I may have been a little loud, too.

Her husband hadn't grown up a 'hunter', but soon after they started dating he took up the sport.

When asked if her husband has gotten a deer yet this season, she said that it's getting difficult to get to the woods with a 3 month old baby at home.
