I believe the word "awesome" was greatly helped by "Spicoli" in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High." I know it's not Phoebe Cates getting out of the pool.

One of my favorite 80's terms that never survived was Dinkus.

I also believe Aerosmith took the word "Dude" to a new level in 1987 with their song.

Awesome dude, are the words I hear most today. Some words just slipped away. Gnarly.
