Things are slowly start to open again and if you are looking for a little recreation for your kids and pets you will be in luck as East Lansing is starting to open parks soon. According to WILX, East Lansing playgrounds will reopen June 22, they have been closed for more than two months due to COVID-19.

Parents and children that go to playgrounds and dog parks after June 22nd are asked to practice social distance, wear a mask, and try to enforce it on others you see not doing this. They are asking people to enforce the social distance and masks because since the pandemic the parks and recreation department is very low staffed and won't be able to enforce safety precautions. The East Lansing parks and recreation department has all of their part time staff on unemployment and is mostly running at 50% or less.

The outdoor sports complexes won't be opening yet but there are other parks and courts that will be opening June 15th or later. The exception is the East Lansing Family Aquatic Center which will be closed for the entire 2020 summer season. More on the parks here.
