The Lansing State Journal has published an updated report on a police chase in rural Eaton County Tuesday that resulted in the suspect's death.

Michigan State Police investigators told LSJ that the suspect died as a result of gunfire exchange with an Eaton County deputy. Earlier reports told us that deputies were assisting a DNR officer on a felony arrest at the suspect's home. As the arrest warrant was served to the suspect, he fled the residence and led deputies on a short chase before ramming a patrol car near Wilcox Road and Boody Highway, west of Eaton Rapids.

Reportedly, it was then that gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and deputies. The suspect was shot, and died from his injuries. The new information states that there were two deputies at the scene when the suspect was shot and killed.
