Empty The Shelters Event Breaks Record; 2,142 Pets Have New Homes
The Bissell Pet Foundation shattered its record set earlier this year with last weekend's Empty The Shelters campaign. The Grand Rapids based nonprofit foundation supported by Bissell Homecare, Inc. covered all adoption fees at 75 animal shelters in and around Michigan last Saturday. The results of the campaign are staggering.
2,142 pets have new homes after the event, equating to 4,284 lives being saved, as each pet adopted Saturday left rescue space for other animals in search of their forever homes. 877 dogs were adopted, 1,244 cats and kittens, and 21 other species of pets are with new families after the event.
Since beginning the Empty The Shelters initiative in May 2016, Bissell Pet Foundation has helped over 10,000 pets find homes.
