Are You Afraid Of Seasoning And Spices?

I love to cook.

I love to cook for other people.

It brings me joy beyond belief. And not to brag, I'm pretty decent at it. Not 5-star Michelin Chef or anything but I can hold my own in the kitchen and on the grill.

Not grandmaster grilling champion or anything but I know some tips and tricks.

I can make my own barbecue sauce and it's damned good if I do say so myself.

I have created my own BBQ rubs. And I did win 3rd place at my church cookoff in Alaska once.

Now before you poo poo that last comment, I went to a Black Baptist Church and I was in the grilling fight of my life with some older brothas with years of experience on me. And I won 3rd place. From a panel of judges. And I used an electric grill.

I can hold my own.

The Spice Makes It Twice As Nice

I just wanted to pass on a little advice for the cookout or whatever you might be doing this weekend. And this is not for the folks that throw down on the grill all the time.

This is for the dabblers and uninitiated. Or folks that grill and you don't know why people aren't necessarily thrilled about your offerings.

Use some seasonings and buy a marinade.

There are literally a ton of them at the store. Don't be afraid to experiment and try some new flavor profiles. Chicken, beef, pork, fish, ribs, burgers, etc.

And you don't have to go for heat. I'm talking flavor that will enhance your meats. You can even season and grill your veggies.

A little goes a long way. Watch your sodium (read the labels people).

And marinate it overnight if you can. If not, there are 30 and 15 minute varieties available.

You'll be stunned at the reactions you get.

And the taste.

Unless the folks you're feeding don't like seasoning.

You have that one friend that thinks mayo is spicy?

Yeah, don't invite them to the cookout.

Nobody wants bland BBQ.

Don't be that guy.
