The state of Michigan is absolutely loaded with haunted locations…and I don’t mean the annual “haunted houses” that are put on every Halloween. I’m talkin’ ‘bout the ones that are believed to actually contain some sort of paranormal activity.

The ten locations listed below are just a tip of the iceberg. This is not a Top Ten list, just a list of ten locations, centered around the Flint/Saginaw/Bay City area, that are worth seeking out for more info and history.

BLOODY HAND OF BAY CITY
The legend says that a severed bloody hand has appeared in the church, mostly in the basement and sacristy, where worship items are kept and priests prepare for the service. While some witnesses claim the hand is a ghostly pale that disappears quickly, others say they've seen it in 'living color' complete with blood dripping from the severed stump. Find out more HERE.

CRACK THE WHIP
This bronze statue is made up of eight children playing "crack the whip"...and the little girl on the end evidently lost her shoe, which lies a few feet behind her. The legend says that anyone who attempts to put their foot in the shoe - and it fits - will experience something bad...possibly even fatal. Click HERE for details.

DICE ROAD
The apparition of Anna Rhodes Millerton has been seen ever since she committed suicide in 1830. She is said to wander the woods in the area, not aware she is dead, waiting for her lover to come back. This is the oldest-known ghost to still haunt Michigan. The legend is HERE.

FARMER WHO MURDERS HIS PARTY GUESTS
This farmer would occasionally invite friends and neighbors over for parties; somehow, he was able to kill all his invited guests and hang their bodies on huge hooks in his barn. The local constabulary somehow found out about his evil deeds, and satisfied with the evidence they found, the police hung the farmer from one of his own trees and buried him on his property. Now his spirit - and the ghosts of his victims - haunt the area. Read more HERE.

FENTON HOTEL
One of the ghosts that's believed to haunt the restaurant is Emery, the hotel's old custodian. His footsteps can be heard walking around upstairs in his old room that has been unoccupied ever since he passed away. There are other spirits on hand that are blamed for grabbing waitresses on their arms - and other places. Info is HERE.

HOYT LIBRARY
Some visitors to the library say when they asked for customer service, they were aided by an elderly woman who they thought worked at the library. When they told the library director to thank this woman, he didn’t know who they were talking about, and that no one had passed by him to enter or leave the room they were in. It could be the spirit of the library’s first librarian, Harriet Ames, from the 1890s. Details are HERE.

MERRILL HAUNTED HOUSE
The family who lived there experienced loud pounding from within & without the walls, fires that started themselves (including a roll of toilet paper caught fire by itself) and disembodied voices. The tale is HERE.

PINE RUN CEMETERY
If you drive through the graveyard after dark, your vehicle will stop on its own and not budge…even when in gear. People have tried steppin’ on the gas and accelerating but to no avail. In the graveyard is a plot with a man, woman, and child all buried together, side-by-side. Observers say the spirits of these three rise from the graves from time to time and can be seen from the road. Their story is HERE.

POTTER STREET STATION
Witnesses claim to have seen a ghostly woman in white floating through the building. The depot handled the bodies of dead soldiers who were killed in wars. Appropriately, there was a casket shop within the depot, so the spirits within could include more than just soldiers, which might explain the 'woman in white'. More can be found HERE.

U.S.S. EDSON
Paranormal investigators believe the ship is haunted. Tools have seemingly moved on their own from place-to-place, cars would start up on their own if parked near the ship.  Read about it HERE.
