Former Detroit Lion Mel Farr, NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1967, died yesterday at the age of 70. Farr rushed for over 3,000 yards in his seven NFL seasons, all of which were spent with the Detroit Lions.

After his impressive career with the Detroit Lions, Farr opened up Mel Farr Ford in Oak Park and became the caped spokesman for the auto dealership, which he turned into a multi-million dollar empire.
