Fun Things to Do This Summer in Michigan

Number 1 on the list is to climb the big dune at Sleeping Bear National Park. I did just that a few years ago. It was an adventure that turned into somewhat of a vision quest. I suggest everyone do this at least once in their lifetime.

Once you make it over the first hill, it just keeps going. I call it magnificent desolation.

It takes about an hour and a half but if you start something you might as well finish. Only a third of the people we started with finished. Take water, while we were there a lady had to have an emergency extraction because she got dehydrated.

Once you make it over the big dune, there are many, many more dunes.

Somewhere along the way you begin to feel less significant.

If you are not to focused on finishing, you begin to absorb all the beauty that surrounds you. It's really a great couple building experience.

You walk and walk some more and just when you think you are about to get to the beach... More walking.

About a 15 minutes after this site we finally made it to the beach.

While we were on the beach we saw ANOTHER cool thing to do in Michigan during summer.

I plan on attempting this this summer. There is a lot to see in Michigan and a lot of memories to be made. The dune climb was one of the highlights of my vacation and a memory that won't soon be forgotten.
