Goodrich Quality Theaters is filing for bankruptcy after 9 decades in the movie biz. According to Mlive, Goodrich is 30 million dollars in debt and likely to sell off most of it's 29 theaters. The Jackson 10 and 7 in Battle Creek are likely to be sold.

Competing with streaming services is something the movie industry has been gearing up for. Recently I went to the movies. One of the trailers was for Netflix.

Now, at most theaters, you can get an adult beverage and food. It's not like you HAVE to sneak them in anymore. The theaters will make more money from the food and drinks than the actual movie.

The Theaters survived bootlegging, VHS and DVD. It's likely they will survive the streaming wars if they are prepared for it.
