Michigan Department of Transportation officials did reopen Grand River Avenue through Meridian Township yesterday after it had been closed several days due to flooding.

WLNS TV 6 reports that several vehicles had to be towed out of the flooded intersection after they attempted to drive through the standing water - and that was Friday. You might imagine that a couple more vehicles had to be hauled outta there over the weekend.

Unconfirmed reports on the WMMQ Facebook page state that a couple of vehicles also had to be rescued from the flood water on Pennsylvania Avenue in Lansing outside the Potter Park Zoo.

By the way, does anyone know someone who works at the Potter Park Zoo who can give us an official or unofficial story on what they did with the 'residents' of the zoo during the flood? How do you evacuate all that wildlife with only a couple days notice? Just curious.
