It's not been a great publicity week for the Michigan Football program. After reporting minor NCAA violations on itself, drama surrounding Dennis Norfleet's status, and the pending transfer of Blake Countess come reports that Director of Football Operations Jim Minick was arrested last weekend on suspicion of operating while intoxicated.

WJBK-TV first reported the story Wednesday afternoon. The arrest took place Saturday morning around 2:30AM in Washtenaw County's Pittsfield Charter Township. According to the story, police were called to a one car accident. Minick's SUV was in a ditch. He told authorities that he had swerved to miss another vehicle in his lane which had drove away. Minick was arrested after refusing a roadside breathalyzer test. He has not yet been charged with anything as authorities await the results of a blood test. No injuries were reported.

"The Colonel", Minick, is a Marine veteran and lifelong friend of Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.Ironically, it was the two of them that made headlines after rescuing victims of a serious car accident on I-94 earlier this year.

WJBK reports that Minick issued a release to them where he stated "I'm not going to make any excuses. I'll face the consequences of my actions. I regret the difficult position in which this has put my family and my employer."

The Michigan's Athletic Department also released the following statement: "Jim has made us aware of the situation and he has taken responsibility for his actions. The athletic department understands the serious nature of this situation. We are still learning details and will let the process move forward."
