A man in Detroit was recently caught on camera abandoning a helpless puppy in the cold weather.

Security footage from outside a Detroit animal shelter from last Wednesday, February 2 shows a man getting out of a black Chevrolet Equinox and opening the back of his vehicle to remove a tan-mix shepherd. He looks around for a spot where he can tie the dog up which he eventually does. After tying up the dog, he gets back into his vehicle and drives off.

Thankfully, the abandoned shepherd, now name Pretzel is doing just fine and will be up for adoption soon. If you are interested in adopting Pretzel or any animal from Detroit Animal Care you can visit the adoptable animals FB group Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control.

Detroit Animal Care Director Mark Kumpf:

If you are a pet owner facing challenges, reach out to one of the many outstanding services like DACC or the Humane Society for help or resources. Anything but tying your animal up and leaving them outside of the shelter.

It's terrible that this person just tied up a puppy and left it in outside the cold. However, I'm glad he at least left the dog outside the shelter and not some random place where no one would find him.

I felt so bad for that puppy when the guy walked away and it was trying so hard to get to him. I don't know how you could just get in your car and drive off like nothing.
